Ne Ne character is pretty much a standard angry black woman

despite the shows claims of alternative family styles what may be progressive for tv is of course hardly for those of us who live in cities like the bay area on the west coast (yee!)

so i add to my list of complaints that the family remains homonormative 

with a football watching beer drinking alpha male that brings home the bacon and and effeminate husband who nags and appears generally superficial concerned mostly with fashion 

-oh and the little girl seems very interesting 

 all and all i will continue to watch the show for personal reasons

• i like justin bartha’s humor 
• there is something truly wonderful about a woman ne ne’ size being on tv

So I’ve been flying threw the showtime starz (lol thanks) series Spartacus for obvious reasons.

Sex & Violence (don’t worry i won’t sing the song). That’s about all there is. Far less political intrigue and maneuvering than that of HBO’s Rome. Nevertheless it’s entertaining. Because it’s mostly loose plot of i kill you, you fuck me. I feel it necessary to comment on one of the four main relationship’s currently playing out in Spartacus: Vengeance.

• Agron & Nasir
• Glaber & Ilithyia

That would be Agron & Nasir

I’m crude and to the point because as i said the show is comprised of blood and fuckery with a dash political maneuvering. So when two main characters aren’t fucking something is very wrong. especially when it’s those two *fans self*.

So the previous series Spartacus: Blood & Sand had another gay relationship who did fuck, quite often /Barca & Pietros /which SPOILER, they got killed. More than their deaths, which is what pretty much happens to everybody on the show sooner or later. The relationship was very much a gladiator-takes-a-boy type thing, which although it was lovey-dovey and the severity of their relationship was articulated quite awesomely in this exchange

Crixus: What is Barca if not a gladiator?

Spartacus: Blood and Sand

The previous relationship of Barca & Pietros was on far less equal footing than that of it’s heterosexual counterparts. Conversely Agron & Nasir were shown to find each other as the other hetero relationships had formed. To be fair and to give praise. The entire idea of homosexuality in true Roman fashion is not one of debate. There is very little hierarchy of relationships in the existing system socially. Politically there is hetero marriage but consistent with time period and place nobody gives a two fucks about homo or hetero.       

So can they get it on please? It is at this point, bordering on suspicious when the one legit [see: non-rapey] homosexual couple is not being shown screwing. Especially when at least one of the couple is a main character. You’re on tumblr, and if you haven’t seen the show Tumblr fans would have you believe Nasir occupy’s the “boy’ role in the gladiator-take-boy dynamic mentioned above. Sorry to say, they are lying to you. This is an unfortunate reflection of Tumblr’s pathological need to create a hetero-normative butch/fem (see: male/female) dynamic for any relationship. 

This is what makes the couple all the more important. That dynamic does not really exist. Not to say there would not be a clear winner in a fight between them, but to squeeze them into such a dynamic would be a misnomer. It’s best represented in the gif above, a sort of back and forth. Please pay no attention to those people telling you Nasir is cat with claws. Nasir occupy’s the same position as did the other gladiators when they first started out; small, inexperienced, angry, violent and untrained. Especially when juxtaposed with Pietros, who pretty much occupied this position, the entire time. 

So Spartacus only seems comfortable showing homosexual relationships and or fuckery when there is a clear hetero-normative dynamic of a “male” and a “female”. Since Agron & Nasir do not fit into that box, we are left without Agron/Nasir sexy time while all of the above pairs have done it at least a half a dozen times each.

Hey starz if you guys are confused at all and you’re not sure or you don’t know who is going to top or bottom, we’d all be perfectly fine with extended fuckery and they can both switch. It’ll be fucking awesome. You can break the mold of societies irrational hatred of people who can occupy two spaces or dual roles at the same time. There isn’t always a dom/sub dynamic for every freakin thing. Some people just go back and forth their whole lives. I know it sounds exhausting, but trust me guys, there are some people out there that make it work. What better time to break the mold than for the finale?
