So the last what three of four big stories going around have been
These all have the exact same underlying thread of cultural bias. So as much as is saddens me pisses me off, kills me that they occurred. The fact that they occurred at the same time has allowed some people to connect the dots.
These preconceived notions that we have in our head are just that, preconceived. Before they come near us they were fabricated and sold to us by the main stream media, who are either
lazy and would go with a convenient story,
greedy, and would alter the facts to fit into some narrative to sell more shit
culpable, and put good people in bad places for their own ends
They no longer concern themselves with the truth, only on what makes them money, and keeps them in position. They will happily paint, poor, black, differently abled, and [insert non-normative behavioral aspect here] any way they chose and have you take it as truth. Normally no ones care but now you can clearly see the consequences of such actions, Namely, people’s lives.
Representation matters. These are not tragedies, there are people who must be held responsible, they are in your TV’s, your magazines, your radio’s, your billboards, your computers they sell you wars over seas and conflict in your neighborhoods. They are the media conglomerate run by old rich cis-white males who don’t give a damn about how what they produce effects everybody else- or even other cis-white males for that matter. They do this for money and position, without regard for others. They are not your friends. Turn them off, don’t buy them off the shelves, tune in to independent sources who are accountable to the people. We are all affected, we are all people.
OK OK OK this is in reference to the Trayvon Martin case in which everyone agrees that the kid was shot because he was black or looked suspicious
what I and some others are trying to argue is that he looked suspicious cause he was black and there are people out there with a vested interest in equating the two. This is problematic in average everyday life as it can result in for example not getting hired for a job// in this extreme cause the perpetuation of the “scary black man” mythos gets a child murdered.
So the question is not. Whether or not Zimmy here is a an actual i hate black people racist but how can we address the structural racism that exists within our society that infiltrates our mind and mostly causes people to want to shoot us.
I have already posted this clip a lot earlier but i think it is the perfect example and HOPEFULLY should explicate how such mythos function in our society whether the individual has personal hate feelings or is just crazy paranoid
Did we get all that? This idea of the scary black man operates in our society even in other black men yea??? K, good. And it is perpetuated by the media. It has REAL CONSEQUENCES people die or get held back in school, or never get that job, or just generally walk around mentally unsound internally hating themselves on some level. This is how oppression operates. This is how representation dictates our interactions with other human beings. This is why we are here. This is also and awesome fucking sketch.
new evidence
where is the cell phone
new witnesses come forward teenager on the phone moments before the event
show all the angry black people in church
GOD there is everything wrong with this coverage
his family is mad? imagine that
they did not mention zimmermans previous record of violence just that he is a neighborhood watchman
“they fought”
did not mention the boys relative size and age to zimmerman
“that’s justice to you” OM FG
i can’t even
this is FUCKING FUCK
very well written though even in this article the boy is given agency in “attracting attention” of zimmerman instead of vice versa zimmerman THOUGHT the guy was suspicious trayvon never did anything to ATTRACT attention
Is how many people still don’t give a shit about the fact that people are killing our babies
no media coverage
no public outcry
no justice
nobody gives a shit about us- because we are still not seen as people
WE ARE PEOPLE
as per usual no one give a shit and there is virtually no coverage in the main stream media, the most is the exact same circulating two paragraphs on various outlets
